Opening a Smoothie King Franchise THINK AGAIN

On or about April of 1998 we opened Smoothie King. I was promised support help and advice from the company as they said we have x number of year in this business and will help in all areas of the business.
This is about all the help I got.
We had a company rep at opening and a revisit about a month or so latter. He
showed me how to fill out reports etc. and I was told they were used to
determine if the Franchisee needed assistance etc. as they could see the losses
or profits from the Franchisee by these reports
I sent my reports and franchise check in faithfully for 3 years. The first year we lost 50,000.00. I sent a year end in
account reports and all required material need to determine our financial
situation . I incorrectly assumed Smoothie King would call and ask if what they could do to help. No calls that year no company visits either.
Next year we lost
$25,000.00 No company visits no calls.
Sent in all reports and checks. nothing no visits no calls nothing.
3rd year we lost 2,000.00 and we had a company
drop in for maybe 10 minutes, I assure you this is on record as a full
visit but that is another lie. The Smoothie King rep said he was in a hurry but would be back, quick inspection and gone.
4th year I called them and asked for a some help as I had quit making the franchise payments and feel this is the reason they came. I asked for some help in the payments but what I got was a complete drain of my banking account from a force payment by them. I closed the account and they did another force payment of 250.00 but I told the bank and had proof I had closed the account this was their baby. I was done with them.
To sum it up I was with Smoothie King for 4 years and lost a total of 200,00.00 dollars They visited my store 3 times in 4 years 2 times in the first months of operation and again for 10 minutes and again when I called for help.
This company lies uses tricks and promotions that do nothing for the franchisee
business but additional cost and pads the pocket of the corporation.
If you are thinking of opening up a Smoothie King Franchise please reconsider it is a business you can't make any money at but will work day and night trying to stay open.
I did
everything humanly possible to keep from closing the store but working 15 hours a day and with only 2 part time employees putting in a Total of 40 hours a week I got tired of the same old thing working myself to death and losing money. See it takes about 400 smoothies a day to break even people that is a lot of smoothies and it is just to hard to make money at this business. the only one that profits is Smoothie King as you are trapped and can't get out.
I am not worried about being
sued from Smoothie King I speak the truth and still have the documents to back it all up. |
