Mr. Olympia Results

Mr. Olympia Results

1. Jay Cutler
2. Branch Warren
3. Dexter Jackson
4. Kai Greene
5. Phil Heath
6. Victor Martinez

It was a great show with tons of muscle on stage. The guys were so big that it was almost cartoon like. I personally thought Dexter should have won due to his better symetry and proportions. I tend to favor the guys with the small waist and big back taper like a Frank Zane physique that is pleasing to the eye. Jay and Branch are big guys but both are blocky and are not as aesthetically pleasing. I almost get the feeling that the judges were going for freaky mass instead of symetry. Bodybuilding is a very subjective sport so at times it is very difficult to pick a winner and can be frustrating to other competitors.

Olympia Prejudging

Last night in Las Vegas the Mr. Olympia started. Matt and Chase came over to watch the event via webcast, I hooked up my computer to the tv so we could get a bigger picture and ordered some pizza. All the guys were huge but some of them were holding water and looked smooth. There is a fine line that you have to walk when you put on size. Dexter Jackson, Jay Cutler, Phil Heath, Kai Green and Branch Warren looked great. Branch had the best conditioning and was really dry, he is not genetically gifted as the others but he came in the best shape of his IFBB career. Kai Greene looked good but he did not have the sharpness that won him the Arnold classic. Its going to be down to Dexter, Jay and Phil. Jay looked awesome with great definition but his waist looked blocky. Phil was also dry but he lacks muscle maturity since he is one of the youngest competitor in the field. It's gonna be close but I think Dexter will repeat as the champion.

Why eat protein?

The primary function of protein include building and repairing of body tissues, regulation of processes and the formation of enyzymes and hormones. In other words, if you work out and do not enough eat enough protein you will not build muscle. My friends always tell me that they are working out but are not getting bigger or stronger and after a few questions later I find out that they are not eating enough protein. A person who lifts weights has a higher daily requirement than a sedentary person and need to consume at least 1g of protein per pound of body weight. I use Syntha 6 cookies and cream to supplement my diet. It mixes real easy and it taste like melted oreos. Don't let your hard work go to waste, make sure you eat enough protein and watch your body grow!!

2009 Mr.Olympia

Well it is that time of year again, summer is gone, fall is here, and so is the "Super Bowl" of bodybuilding the Mr. Olympia. Last year's show made history, "The Blade", Dexter Jackson dethroned the reneging champ Jay Cutler by beating him with his conditioning and aesthetics. This year's show will be one that will be remembered for years to come. The competitor lineup is stacked: Dexter Jackson, Victor Martinez, Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, Dennis Wolf, Kai Greene, Branch Warren, and more! In 2007, the fans were left with a sour taste, when Jay Cutler was crowned his 2nd title. Many fans and competitors that year picked Victor Martinez to win the show. In my opinion, I think this is Victor's year. Victor has had time to heal from his knee injury that sidelined him from the 2008 show. Victor's determination will not be denied.

Matt's Top 6 Picks

1 - Victor Martinez
2 - Phil Heath
3 - Dexter Jackson
4 - Kai Greene
5 - Dennis Wolf
6 - Jay Cutler

Mr. O'

The Mr. Olympia is on this weekend in Las Vegas and it is going to be a really good show. Dexter Jackson is the returning champ but there are a lot of good competition this year and I really think the show is up for grabs. I was really shocked that Dexter won last year because they always give it to the bigger guy. Victor Martinez will be back this year and Phil Heath is always a threat. Kai Greene will be competing in his first Olympia and I can't wait to see how heavy he comes in because I saw him guest pose at a show weighing 300lbs. I hope they put the show on pay per.

My Top 6 List

Dexter Jackson
Kai Greene
Victor Martinez
Phil Heath
Dennis Wolf
Jay Cutler

Proper footwear

I was working out the other day and I saw a guy walk in to the gym wearing flip flops. No big deal, he walked into the locker room so I thought he was gonna change and then proceed to exercise but I was wrong. When he came out he walked to the bench press area and started working out like normal. That is an accident waiting to happen and I wonder what the guy was thinking? He can't do cardio in flip flops and I dont want to see some nasty toes on the leg press machine. I wear boots to cover my feet for protection and it gives me a few inches since I'm so short. I know its not a rule but I think all gyms should make members proper footwear and flip flops should not be allowed!!

Hello

My name is Victorino Martin but everyone just calls me Rino, and I just joined the Key Supplement staff. I have been working out since I was young teen and I still workout on a regular basis. I competed last month at the Arkansas State Bodybuilding Championship and won my weight class. I did my first show in 93' in San Diego while I was enlisted in the US Navy where I first met Leo Ingram who is now an IFBB professional. I plan on competing again next year at the USA and Nationals with the hopes of getting my pro card.
